Jazz Sailor is not just a project. It is the result of a long artistic and human journey developed by Angelo Gregorio, exploring the deep relationship between jazz improvisation and the world of sailing.

The origins of Jazz Sailor lie in a simple but powerful question: what do jazz musicians and sailors have in common?

At first glance, these two worlds may seem distant. One belongs to music, the other to the sea. Yet both are based on the same fundamental principle: the ability to adapt in real time.

In jazz, improvisation requires listening, interaction and constant decision-making. Musicians react to each other, shaping the music moment by moment. In sailing, similar dynamics occur. The sailor continuously adjusts direction, speed and balance according to wind, waves and environmental conditions.

This parallel became the foundation of a creative research developed over the course of a year, involving over 300 participants and interviews with both musicians and sailors.

Through this process, Jazz Sailor evolved into a multidisciplinary project combining research, composition, live performance and visual storytelling.

The goal is not only artistic. Jazz Sailor aims to highlight values such as awareness, adaptability, listening and connection with the environment.

Today, Jazz Sailor exists as a concert experience, a research publication and a documentary project, creating a bridge between music and the sea, between structure and freedom.
