Caravaggio is the debut album by the Via Toledo Jazz Quartet, a project led by emerging saxophonist Angelo Gregorio. Joining him are Bruno Castellucci, the legendary drummer known for his collaborations with Toots Thielemans; Paolo Loveri, a prominent Belgian guitarist; Fil Caporali, a Brazilian double bassist and winner of the 2016 Toots Thielemans Award; and special guest Marco Sannini, a celebrated trumpeter from Naples.
Nine of the ten tracks are composed by Angelo Gregorio, showcasing a sound deeply rooted in tradition while highlighting the instrumental brilliance of each soloist. The album’s structured melodies and harmonically rich surprises make it a truly enjoyable listen. Castellucci’s masterful drumming and Loveri’s deft guitar work provide a solid foundation for Gregorio’s bold and virtuosic solos.
