Ceci n’est pas un trio” is the name of the energic trio of Angelo Gregorio that re-propose their own version of the great Swing and Jazzy melodies from the ’30 till the ’60. Characterized by a fresh and tasteful piano accompaniment by Julien Gillain plus the driving energy of Lucas Vanderputtenand on drums and the warm sound of Angelo’s tenor saxophone. Homage to Mondrian & Jazz
In line with the Dutch artistic movement “De Stijl” Mondrian reject the past and develop a new artistic grammar: primary color, straight line, squares, rectangles, open and close. For him things were an ensemble of tensions between opposites, in his painting he tried to represent this by using the tension between open and close, centered ad not centered, small and big. With the rise of Nazism he take refuge in the New York were he starts to replace the black grid with predominantly yellow lines that intersect at points marked by squares of blue and red. These atomized bands of stuttering chromatic pulses, interrupted by light gray, create paths across the canvas suggesting the city’s grid, the movement of traffic, and blinking electric lights, as well as the rhythms of jazz.
